PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
SWCS is in a unique position to provide a credible forum for resource issues. Members have the potential to develop their careers through networking with other soil and water conservation professionals, attending local, regional, and national conferences and training, and developing leadership at the local, state, regional, and national level of membership.
Chapter meetings plan local activities, training, workshops, and forums to further the knowledge of members and other participants within this region of Maryland. Planning includes the Northeast SWCS Chapter Development Workshop and the National SWCS Annual Meeting. Professional training opportunities include the use of the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation program (RUSLE) and the Certified Professionals in Erosion and Sediment Control program (CPESC).
PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION:
You can earn designation as a Certified Professional in Soil Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) specialist. The program, sponsored by SWCS, identifies and trains knowledgeable and experienced professionals. Many professionals in Maryland have achieved this prestigious designation, which is already recognized by several government agencies.
Each year, SWCS presents awards and fellowships to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to natural resource management. SWCS chapters recognize local achievements.
